The Attainable Wishlist Project | CONTRIB. ADDED
Important update
This project has now been moved over to AttainableWishlist (https://www.deviantart.com/attainablewishlist). I hope you will join us there!
When I was younger, my Mum was temporarily laid off from her job. That left her, my sister, and I with virtually no income, and we ended up living on my paycheck from McDonald's to get by (I was still in school). They were tough times, but we made it by with laughter, love, and we grew up knowing what strength in family is. I carry that lesson with me every single day, and as tough as it was, I am very thankful to have learned it. It has helped out in a huge way.
During those times, though, we didn't go out and do much stuff (not

maybe one day you'll look down at your arm and realize
you can't count the tracks any more.
they've become innumerable, almost like the stars in the sky,
like every single raindrop that's been lost in the ocean.
and maybe you'll decide to put the needle down for once
'cause you had forgotten that you had a choice.

maybe one night you'll look down the neck of your umpteenth bottle and realize
you're killing yourself instead of your worries.
it seems the cure's become the affliction

How To Play: Put your iPod/iTunes/Spotify/Pandora/music player of some kind on shuffle, and then write the first lyric of each song that comes up. Do this for twenty songs, and you'll create a poem!

You can structure the stanzas however you want and add punctuation, or the occasional "and" or "but", but no altering of the lyrics themselves is allowed. Yo

This poem has been removed.
[This poem has been removed as it lacks the emotional and verbal depth to be a real poem.
When submitting please remember that a real poet is an outcast and eccentric, with real emotional trauma, and lacking these qualities nothing the submitter writes can ever be considered a poem.
If you wish to re-submit your work, please follow these guidelines:
-o- Please remove all instances of self-depreciation and any words that clearly allude to pain. These are "emo" and therefore not real poetry.
-o- Please do not write about love if under the age of twenty-one, as an adolescent obviously knows nothing about such an adult emotion.

Yes, roses are red
And violets are blue
But you have to understand
Who said they had to,
Its about imagination
Emotion and orignality
Not the reiteration
Of dead men's practicality
These words,
They are your sentence
To a world that has to listen
As you create the difference
Whether it be
With angst poem against love
Or how you set your heart free
To fly like a dove,
For these words
Whether or not they be true
Their beauty and ideals
Will be used to define you,
So yes,
Hope ,in fact, has feathers
And like a caged bird it sings
But these words will only be tethers
That strip you of your wings,
Those are their words
Meant for their time
And me
